Galway is located on the West coast of Ireland; in the Irish language the city is referred to as Cathair na Gaillimhe this means City of Galway. The city has grown in popularity over the years due to its beautiful location.
The main street through the city is called Shop Street and, surprisingly enough, contains most of the city's shops and stores. This is also the venue for the restaurants, cafes and little coffee shops of Galway too. If you are seeking the nightlife of the city then Shop Street is also the place to be for the vibrant and lively pubs and clubs, many of the establishments stay open way into the small hours of the morning. An advantage with the city is their very low crime rate, making it especially appealing to venture out after dark.
Lynch's Castle is well worth a visit if you enjoy history, the attention to detail makes it a work of art to observe. The castle was constructed during the late 14th century and if you look closely you will see the devilish grin of the ghoulish gargoyles staring back down at you.
Galway is a lovely location to choose to study English as the Irish folk have very friendly dispositions and are especially welcoming to visitors.
