Studying English in Seattle
The present official nickname of Seattle is 'The Emerald City' and this derives from the numerous lush, evergreen trees in and surrounding the city.
Seattle's skyline is dominated by the incredible Space Needle that stretches 605 feet into the sky and measures 138 feet across at the tower's widest point. It was constructed for the 1962 World's Fair. The Space Needle is built to withstand winds of 200mph. The observation deck is 520 feet and offers stunning views of not only the city of Seattle itself but also the Cascade and Olympia mountains.
Visitors can dine in style in the Sky City restaurant which stands at 500 feet and rotates giving guests the perfect panoramic view as they eat.
The Seattle aquarium boasts some fascinating displays and exhibits including the 'underwater dome' which is an undersea room taking on a spherical shape and offering 360° views to visitors. The inhabitants include salmon, cod, skates, rockfish and the ever popular menacing sharks lurking in the depths.
Seattle has so much to offer and it is the perfect venue to study English as there is so much culture to experience along with learning the English language. The locals are friendly and accommodating.
