Studying German in Berlin
Berlin has encountered a particularly troubled history and during the year of 1961 the Berlin Wall was constructed. The wall provided a barrier separating West Berlin and East Germany, there was also a longer inner border which established the division between East and West Germany.
The borders were known as The Iron Curtain standing between East and West Europe. The wall divided East Germany from West Germany for more than a quarter of a century until it was opened up in 1989.
Despite its past though the city of Berlin offers a lot today for visitors. There is a very lively and vibrant nightlife throughout the city and Berlin has become one of the more favoured European cities with party people.
You will find it difficult to find a more authentic location to learn the German language than the city of Berlin. The Germans are welcoming and friendly and you can obtain a 'feel' for the language by hearing it around you on a daily basis.

School info: The GLS, German language school is unique in the fact that it has a restaurant on campus serving traditional German food and it also has its own hotel. The GLS run activities during the afternoons to encourage the students to mix with each other.
