The Colon Language Centre was founded in the year 1952 therefore the school has gained over 55 years of experience in teaching.

The high quality of teaching at the Colón Language Centre is no surprise when you look at the teachers employed at the centre. There are approximately 50 highly qualified teachers that are also university graduates and who speak German as their native language.

The centre uses what is termed as 'the direct' method of teaching its language students this means that they are totally immersed in the German language from the beginning of their course. An advantage to learning within the city of Hamburg is that there is no regional accent, the residents speak 'high German' this is German with no accent.

There are 80 classrooms in the centre altogether and the centre is housed throughout 3 buildings and there is also a cafeteria and bar in the main building. This is open to students and members of the general public alike. The Colón Language Centre is located in a quiet area of Hamburg that has been changed into a pedestrian only zone.
