Hamburg has much to offer visitors with numerous attractions. The peaceful and tranquil Alster Lake proves especially popular with visitors and sailing, boating and relaxing cruises can all be enjoyed on the lake.

If you like all the fun of the fair then make sure you are in Hamburg when the Hamburger Dom comes to town. The fair is one of Europe's biggest and it runs for a complete month three times every year. The rides are all traditional ones such as roller-coasters, big wheels and carousels.

For the braver visitors there are the dungeons in Hamburg. A word of warning though it is a pretty gruesome attraction! It portrays events that are part of the city's history and makes use of special effects. The dungeons show displays from the plague, the Great Fire of 1842 and World War II.

Hamburg zoo made history by becoming the first zoo to replace cages and fences with natural moats around the animal enclosures. The zoo was founded in 1907 and now houses over 2,500 different species of animals.
