Heidelberg is a city with numerous attractions and plenty of sights to see. The city's landscape is dominated by the elevated Heidelberg castle ruins that sit nestled in the trees of the Odenwald mountain range. The castle has been slightly rebuilt since its demolition during the 17th and 18th centuries.
Visitors can reach the Heidelberg castle via a railway it is such an impressive ruin to observe mainly because it was constructed in a gothic style. The panoramic view back over the city is spectacular.
There are cruises to be taken on the River Neckar offering a relaxing way of viewing the city, the trips last several hours. If you are feeling more energetic then you could take part in a walking tour of the city a lot of the main sights can be seen within a few hours on foot.
