Munich is the third biggest city throughout Germany and the city's motto is 'München mag Dich' which when translated means 'Munich Loves You.'

The city is very much a 'green city' with several parks and gardens throughout. The main Englischer Garten is one of the biggest urban parks open to the general public in the world. The park is located very close to the city centre and covers an area of approximately 3.7km² this is actually larger than Central Park in the city of New York.

If observing wildlife is more up your street then pay a visit to Tierpark Hellabrunn this is a zoological garden in Munich. The zoo covers an area of 89 acres and it first opened its gates to visitors in the year 1911.

The zoo boasts numerous attractions including the elephant house which was constructed in 1914, the jungle house with its various occupants including chimpanzees, gorillas and alligators. Visitors can take a wander through Dracula's Villa and view the spooky bats or pop in the aquarium and see the piranha at feeding time. The guided tours prove to be very popular especially the ones taking place after dark when the zoo has closed for the day.

Munich is an ideal city to study the German language in with the native language being German and the locals being welcoming to visitors. The beautiful parks and gardens offer a refreshing change from the classroom and a chance to unwind.
