Studying Italian in Salerno
The city of Salerno is nestled in a beautiful location along the Tyrrhenian Sea upon the Gulf of Salerno. The dominating feature of this charming Italian city is the cathedral, known as the Duomo. The building dates back as far as the year 1085 and is actually dedicated to Saint Matthew who is the patron saint of the city.
History is abundant in Salerno with the bell tower from the 12th century close to the cathedral and the 9th century medieval aqueduct. Just a short drive away from the city stands the stunning Amalfi coastline with its gorgeous beaches that prove to be extremely popular with residents and tourists alike.
The nightlife throughout the city of Salerno is pretty sedate but the city does boast some of the finest restaurants throughout Italy serving some delicious culinary delights. The promenade is called Lungomare Trieste and is certainly the most popular destination in the city for drinking as the area has a delightful atmosphere with its palm trees swaying in the breeze.
